Whether you are writing fiction or non-fiction, an academic paper or something more literary, I can help ensure that your writing is clear, concise and compelling.
As a professional editor, I will help you resolve problems and correct mistakes in the final drafts of your work, leaving behind only the beautifully realised and carefully-crafted world that you always had in mind.
Structural editing
A structural edit considers the overall structure of your work and looks at how pieces of information work together to create coherence in your writing.
A structural edit will focus on chapter length and order, logical links between information, and the flow, pace and completeness of information throughout your manuscript.
For fiction, a structural edit also considers genre conformity, world building, internal logic, and character and story arcs.

Copy editing
A copy edit is an essential part of creating professional-looking text. Copy editing involves looking at the finer details of your writing and correcting any errors and problems that would distract or confuse your reader.

A copy edit checks and corrects spelling, punctuation, grammar, sentence structure, word choice, consistency, facts and quotes.

Proofreading
Proofreading is the last stage of editing and involves a final read through and check of your writing. This is where any remaining errors are picked up and corrected, and where your work is prepared to go to print.
This process should not require major feedback, with most problems already being resolved through a structural and copy edit.
Hi! My name is Tania and I am an editor, based in Melbourne, Australia. I am fully qualified to help you with your writing and I am a professional member of the Institute of Professional Editors (IPEd).
I edit fiction, non-fiction, memoirs and family histories, academic papers and student theses.
As a collaborative editor, I talk to you (or communicate via email if you prefer) to understand what you would like to achieve through your writing and, if necessary, to work out the best angle to take with your work. With a goal and an approach firmly in mind, we then work together to bring your work up to a professional, publishable standard.
Throughout the editing process I provide you with regular, comprehensive and respectful feedback via email, and include helpful editorial notes in your manuscript. I can also work to a loose or more detailed schedule, depending on your preference.​
